BOYS:
Highland Springs jumped to a 29-point lead by halftime and rolled over Lee-Davis Tuesday night 89-40, handing the Confederates their first loss of the season (now 0-1 in the Capital District, 3-1 overall).
Hanover, still shorthanded as football players begin to join the basketball team, fell in their Capital District opener to Henrico 87-61. Tyler Shannon led the Hawks (0-1 Capital, 0-2 overall) with 26 points.
John Marshall scored a mind-boggling 34 points in the first quarter en route to a 104-67 win over Patrick Henry in Colonial District play. The Patriots fall to 0-2 in the Colonial, 1-2 overall.
GIRLS:
Hanover jumped out to a huge first quarter lead and never looked back, winning their first game of 2011-12 over Henrico 71-38. The Hawks are 1-1 overall, 1-0 in the Capital District.
Patrick Henry continued its winning ways with a 19-point win over John Marshall, 75-56 to go to 3-0 in the Colonial District and overall.
Lee-Davis couldn't muster much offense in its Capital District opener, losing to Highland Springs 62-25. The Confederates are now 2-1 overall.
