THE WRAP: Hanover, Lee-Davis Win Field Hockey Tournament Openers, Atlee upset....

In the Conference 11 Tournament tonight at Henrico, the top-seeded Lee-Davis Confederates made it 16-1 as they rolled past Highland Springs in the first semifinal by a 7-0 score. Madison Doss, Allie Butler and Madison Angus were among those who found the net and clinched a berth in the Class 5A South Region playoffs next week with the win.

Lee-Davis will meet Henrico for the first-ever Conference 11 title Wednesday at 5:30pm at Douglas Freeman High on Three Chopt Road. The Warriors picked up their second win over Atlee this season, with a late goal to eliminate the Raiders by a 1-0 score.

Atlee finishes the season at 9-8 and a game short of region play for the second consecutive season.

In Conference 20 action, #2 seeded Hanover easily handled J.R. Tucker 7-0 in the quarterfinals of the tournament being held at SportsQuest in Midlothian. Michelle Knizner led the way with a hat trick for the Hawks, who are at 14-2. One of those two losses was on opening day, August 26th, versus Midlothian. The Trojans will be Hanover's semifinal opponent Tuesday afternoon. The winner will not only advance to the Conference Tournament final, they'll also grab a berth in the Class 1A--4A Combined Regional Tournament next week.

Patrick Henry will begin Conference 16 Tournament play Tuesday at home against Albemarle at 4:30pm.

GOLF: Patrick Henry sophomore Andrea Dill shot an 87 Monday in the first round of the State Girls Golf Open at Jefferson-Lakeside Country Club in Northern Henrico, just a shot ahead of fellow county player, Atlee freshman Erica Whiteside, who shot an 88.  Day two of the championship is Tuesday.
