Lee-Davis, Atlee, R-MC Volleyball ALL earn victories Monday!

It was a memorable day on the volleyball court for Hanover County teams.

1) Randolph-Macon (23-6) received an at-large berth to the NCAA Division III Tournament Monday. The Jackets, who were upset in the ODAC Semifinals Saturday after winning the regular season title, will face Gallaudet (31-6), the North East Atlantic Conference Champions, at 5:30pm Friday at Christopher Newport University in Newport News.

2) The Lee-Davis Confederates girls volleyball team, the second seed from the Capital District, traveled to Mills Godwin and upset the Colonial District champions in five sets, 24-26, 25-19, 22-25, 25-19, 15-9 in the Central Region Quarterfinals. Becca Lass led the C-Feds, now 20-5, with 19 kills, 4 digs, and 4 blocks, while Christina Penzer added 17 kills and 10 digs, and Jordan Martin fed well with 46 assists.  Mills Godwin's season comes to a sudden end at 23-3.

3) The Atlee girls, as expected, defeated Deep Run in their Central Region Quarterfinal at home in three sets, to advance to Wednesday night's semifinal against Clover Hill.  This game will match the Co-Region Players of the Year against each other, as Harper Smith of the Cavaliers will line up across from Atlee's Hailey Brooks.

4) The Atlee boys completed the domination Monday evening with a three-set sweep of Deep Run to advance in the Central Region Quarters.  The Raiders now will face Cosby, a four-set winner over Thomas Dale Monday, in Tuesday's semifinal.

All Region Semifinals and Finals for boys and girls take place at Hanover High School.....
