Patriots Girls, Boys Sweep Jaguars....

Emma Mitchell struck out 15 batters and allowed only two hits as Patrick Henry got a road shutout over Glen Allen in softball Wednesday evening, 7-0. Sam Moore opened the scoring with her first home run of 2012 in the second inning. Paige Mitchell had two hits, scored a run and drove in a run, while Allison Tingler had an RBI double.

At one point, Mitchell struck out 11 in a row before surrendering her first base runner of the game in the fifth inning. Patrick Henry is now 1-0, 2-0, and will have their home opener Friday afternoon in a tough matchup with Deep Run at 5:30pm.

Cody Crawley's sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth inning scored the winning run and the Patriots struck out the side in the bottom of the seventh to hold on for an 8-6 baseball victory over Glen Allen. The Patriots, also now 1-0, 2-0, face preseason District favorite Deep Run at home Friday at 5:30pm.
