FOOTBALL FRIDAY IS HERE!

High school football fans, your wait is OVER!

The first full week of football in the Central Region, and for Hanover County schools is Friday night!  Atlee opens the season on the road with a tough test against running back Evan Hinkle and the Deep Run Wildcats.  Lee-Davis is at home, but with an even tougher opening test, welcoming two-time Division 6 regional champion Hermitage to Mechanicsville.  The Panthers are 1-0 after a 38-0 pasting of Fork Union Military Academy on ESPNU two weeks ago.

OUR RADIO GAME OF THE WEEK: PATRICK HENRY AT HANOVER

The Patriots look for their first win over Hanover since 2007, while the long-anticipated senior season of Sam Rogers, Andrew Knizner, L.J. Jones and others begins on Chamberlayne Road.  In their decade-long history, the Hawks have already captured three Division 5 regional titles, but have never won the crown in back-to-back years (2007, 2009, 2011).  The Hawks were not sharp in their lone scrimmage two weeks ago against Eastern Region power Lake Taylor.  Will they be ready?  Will they have too much for Patrick Henry?

ON THE AIR: WHAN Radio, at 102.9 FM and 1430 AM, beginning at 6:30pm.  Not near a radio or going to the game?  Listen online OR on your smartphone!  We'll have a link to game audio HERE at HanoverCountySports.org at the top of our page!
