Friday Softball Action.....

Lauren McIntyre struck out 12 and Casey Price drove in six runs, including three on a triple in the bottom of the sixth to break open a very close game, giving Lee-Davis their ninth straight win, 8-3 over Glen Allen. Lee-Davis scored one in the first, two in the second, but left the bases loaded in the third, fourth, and fifth innings, only plating one during this span. Glen Allen brought home three in the fifth to make it a 4-3 game before the decisive offensive outburst for Lee-Davis in the sixth.

Kelly Heinz played her first game for Lee-Davis this season as the Designated Player. She went 2 for 3 with a double, single and a walk. She will not be pitching. The Confederates improve to 5-0 in the Capital District, 9-1 overall heading into their showdown game Tuesday at Atlee.

As for the aforementioned Raiders, Jessica Holte pitched a one-hitter, striking out 11 as Atlee defeated Highland Springs, 3-0. The Raiders are also 5-0 in the Capital, 9-1 overall and will host Lee-Davis Tuesday at 6pm. Shelby Hill went 3-for-3 including two doubles in the victory.

Another day, another shutout for Patrick Henry, as Emma Mitchell fanned nine over four innings, while Sam Moore powered the Patriot offense with a three-run homer as PH easily handled Maggie Walker Governors School 10-0 in five innings Friday in Ashland. Paige Mitchell went 2-for-3 and scored two runs in the victory. Patrick Henry, the consensus number one team in the Central Region, remains unbeaten at 8-0 in the Colonial District, 11-0 overall. They next face Deep Run on the road this Tuesday.
